The Mariinsky Theatre of St Petersburg will be giving guest performances in the main auditorium of the Finnish National Opera in late March and early April. There are three works on the programme: the opera Enchanted Wanderer by Rodion Shchedrin (30 March), the ballet The Little Humpbacked Horse by Alexei Ratmansky to music by Shchedrin (31 March), and a triple bill featuring works by George Balanchine, entitled Jewels (1 and 2 April).
The first two performances will be conducted by Valery Gergiev, artistic director and chief conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre.
