In November, the Finnish National Opera Orchestra and Chorus will perform in two concerts at St. John's Church in Helsinki 11/1 and Ristinkirkko Church in Lahti 11/2. The programme features Johannes Brahms's monumental work Ein deutsches Requiem, with soprano Martina Rüping and baritone Jaakko Kortekangas as soloists. Although Brahms titled his work a requiem, it is less a funeral work for the departed than a work of solace for the living. The concert also includes Brahms' Alto Rhapsody, featuring mezzo-soprano Lilli Paasikivi as soloist. Chief conductor Michael Güttler will conduct the concert.
