Pre-performance talks

Pre-performance talks present the background of the performance scheduled for the evening. The talks take place in Finnish and attendance is open to everyone.

Mélisande is a maiden discovered wandering in the forest. She finds a mysterious castle, where she tragically falls in love with the young Pelléas. Debussy's dreamlike symbolist opera is here given an enchantingly beautiful setting.

 

Richard Strauss 150th anniversary

Richard Strauss established himself as the leading opera composer of his day with Salome and Der Rosenkavalier. His sparkling orchestration and lovely melodies continue to enchant opera audiences.

 

The Snow Queen

Kenneth Greve's ballet for the whole family is based on the tale by H.C. Andersen from 1845. The Music was composed by Tuomas Kantelinen.

 

Requiem

Overwhelming emotion, profound music and achingly beautiful melodies combine to produce one of the most impressive works of sacred music ever written. The colossal Requiem has with reason been described as Verdi's best opera.
