Tango! – from Buenos Aires to Seinäjoki

Interpretations of Argentinian and Finnish tango electrify the Opera Main Stage in an evening of dance hosted by Finnish dance legend Jorma Uotinen.

 

FNB Youth Company presents

A Youth Company dancers have been working alongside the members of the FNB on the main stage, and in May the Youth Company will give a show of its own at Almi Hall. The programme will feature classical ballet numbers and contemporary dance.

 

The Ballet School Presents: La Sylphide (part) and other choreographies

Vocational education students at the Ballet School of the FNO will take to the stage in Almi Hall in May.

Spring at the Finnish National Ballet will conclude with a wonderful gala where Artistic Director Kenneth Greve has invited colleagues from around the world to join the dancers of the FNB!

 

Danske Bank presents: Finnish National Ballet on summer tour 2014

In the summer, a group of dancers from the FNB will be going on tour in Finland, visiting several cities and towns for free public performances in market squares and similar venues. The summer tour is kindly sponsored by Danske Bank.

 

Tero Saarinen Company: Morphed

A band of eight men seduce, challenge, demand and swagger their way through this ingenious, organic and impressive choreography. In his much-awaited new production, Tero Saarinen sets out to shake up the prevailing definition of masculinity.

 

Onegin

Onegin by choreographer John Cranko is returning to the FNB after almost ten years of absence. Cranko's interpretation of the sad story by Alexander Pushkin is considered one of the finest full-length narrative ballets of the 20th century.

 

Horečná-Godani-Robbins

The new production by the Finnish National Ballet features urban energy, brilliant movement and macabre humour. All the works on this triple bill are being performed for the first time in Finland.

 

Dance Schools' Contemporary Dance Happening

The event will feature enthusiasts of contemporary, jazz and modern dance from all around Finland.

 

FNB Youth Company presents: R & J

Finnish National Ballet Youth Company will be performing R & J by Marilena Fontoura, a fresh look at the story of Romeo and Juliet to the well-known music by Sergei Prokofiev.

 

The Snow Queen

Kenneth Greve's ballet for the whole family is based on the tale by H.C. Andersen from 1845. The Music was composed by Tuomas Kantelinen.

A cleaning woman at the popular soup restaurant dreams of waiting on tables, and she finally has the chance to try her wings. What will happen to poor Sofia? Photo Soup is a contemporary dance work for 6 to 9 year old children.

All is not well in Moomin Valley, and Moomintroll and his friends decide to find out what is wrong. Anandah Kononen brings the familiar, exciting narrative to the world of ballet.

 

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Young lovers are confused about who should be in love with whom, and the Queen of the Fairies falls in love with an ass, who is actually a person. Everything is possible in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
